HELP! car wont start- believe it to be fuel problem
1994 civic dx-ran perfectly fine earlier today, had no problems starting/running whatsoever. went to start it up tonite and it wouldnt not start. checked for spark, got it. dont here fuel pump, changed relay, same problem. when i first try to start it, turn key to on, let it prime then try to start, acts like its gonna start then just sits and cranks but doesnt fire up. what all should i look for here? like i said, there IS spark but not hearing fuel pump. would the pump just go out like that all of a sudden with no warning? someone please help. only mode of transport at this point in time

Re: (Steven Poljak)
well i've got plenty of spark, thats not the issue here. my prob is fuel right now.
as for the crx, you'd just have to let me know what you need cuz its been pretty well stripped but there are a few things left. just hit me up with what you need.

1.pull up the back seat
2.pull the cover of the fuel pump... (6 screws)
3.take a hammer and bang on the cover while the key is in the acc...
this should kick the pump on...
also check your ecu fuse

Re: (exotik4doorcivic)
more than likely its the pump, if you dont here it prime then its bad. And yes it can just stop working all of a sudden. There should be a bleeder valve on your fuel rail. Kinda looks like a valve stem. unscrew it and see if gas comes out. If not then its either fuel filter or pump, good luck

if you bang on the pump like i said it will kick itself on and you should be fine for a while it wont do this every time you start it up mine did the same thing and i left it like that for a year, and you cant get a walbro performance fuel pump on ebay for a 100 "buy it now"

Re: (boostedpleasure)
have you checked all your fuses? Another problem that sometimes happens is bad grounding. The main relay gets its ground from the computer and everything could be functioning property except for a computer ground. Check that. Fuse #18 I think is fuse for the fuel portion of the main relay. Check that. If nothing there, use a jumper from your main relay to the fuel pump directly to see what happens, if it works then you've got a wiring problem, if not replace the pump.

did you take out the pump and look at the filter on the end of that?? looks like a tea bag. if that is clogged with alot of dirt, all the banging in the world wont help it prime.
