check for vacuum leak. Check IACV, check FITV. It can be anything.

well, my gsr had a problem like that. The idle would constantly stay at 2,000. It turned out to be the FITV. some people reported their idle problem being their IACV, and commonly people reported it to be a vacuum leak.

uhm, FITV is the fast idle thermo valve. Which is located beneath the throttlebody on obd1 motors. IACV is the idle air control valve located on the intake manifold.

Also check the condition of the PCV valve (positive crank ventalation). I had a high idle after I rebuild my motor. I thought it was the FIT & IAC too, but I overlooked reinstalling the PCV, so after I did the idle calmed down to 700-800.
If the motors got alot of milage just replace the valve, it should rattle when you shake it. If it doesnt then replace it.
