finally got my b20b in and now i'm trying to figure out if they sent me what i ordered. Where is the year stamped?

 

not to sure about the block year stamp..but if you have the head on the block still you can check the round number stamp above the #4 & #3 exhaust port, should look a little something like this:




also, if i recall correctly, the pre-98 B20 blocks do NOT have a knock sensor, while the 99+ B20's have a knock sensor.

ok heres the deal: i purchased a complete jdm 95 b18c. but i checked the head where the block year is stamped(as in pic above) and it shows a 9/3... so would that then mean that the head is from a 93 gsr??? if so, would this be hurting performance? and should i request that i get the proper head??? please help... thanks.

 

the engine is usually a year older than the car it came from, so the engine you got is probably out of a '94 gsr.

 

what kinda performance u talk about.. just strait "pop the head on" or are u building?? i doubt there will be much..

No. It's a 99... I'm 100% sure.

When you look at the head stamp - if its stamped 00 it means the motor was made in the year 2000 but the car it came in was a 2001.

 

If the stamp states 00 its out of a 2001 car or it could be a 2000 that was made really late in that year. But there is no way its a 99

 

Sweet. I guess I have a newer engine than I thought. It is JDM if that makes a difference..

I don't understand why my ECU was OBD2a then.

 

well my usdm b16a2 head is stamped 99, i know for a fact that it didnt come from a 98 car.

there is NO WAY its a 99.
its possible it is a 2000 but not a 99.
