Default Engine Randomly Dying

Hi guys, i drive a 96 civic ex, and the car recently started doing this. Probably like a month ago i could feel a very slight jerk while driving, but i paid it no mind. Well now what the car does is that when i am going to a stop, it decides to turn off on me. And yesterday while i was driving, the car started jerking. So i pulled over to a parking lot, and the car died as soon as i pulled in to the parking lot. I tried turning it on, and all it did was crank. I waited a little while, and it decided to turn on, so risked it and drove home(didn't want to deal with a tow truck). This makes me frustrated, and i was wondering if you guys could help. I read it could be the main relay or the fuel filter, but i would like to narrow the problem down. Thanks in advance guys!!
