AEM EMS: Anyone get one fully tweaked + working?
I was scouring the AEM EMS forum at their site, and I didn't
see a single honda that didn't have problems somewhere?
Am I wrong? I'm kinda scared of paying for it, and have to
spend a whole weekend just to make my car startup/idle.
And I'm scared of possible screwing my engine up by running
it incorrectly.

i got it running fine idles fine.. just startup o nthe car is kinda hard sometimes like dustin posted on the fourms.. it takes little longer. I am pretty sure that s the problem with most true standalones.
Mine's running pretty strong now...the newer maps help alot. I trashed my old one a little while back, started with a new .73 map, changed for 3bar/wideband, and pasted in my old fuel map. I did a little tweaking this past weekend and have the basic driveability tweaked pretty well, still have some starting issues but I'm slowly working them out.

i am still having problems with the accel/decel pump tables
when i stab the throttle it bogs a little...or i even hear audible knock.
(in neutral though so its not life threatening)

My EMS starts up the car but the idle is strange. Sometimes it is right on target at ~750 rpms, other times it hangs at 2800 rpms. Drivability is very poor. I am currently using it on the stock sohc motor in my civic, just trying to get used to using it. I have the .73 firmware and the 3.13 Pro software.
I *really* hope some more maps become available soon.

Wow, I'll be the ray of sunshine. After some tweaking and time, roughly a month of time with me working on it two times a week if I'm luck. I got the car to start and 20-30 minutes later to idle. My problem was getting the software to download to the ECU, I'm not a computer wiz and the damn thing didn't co-operate with me. My car idles fine 750-850 rpms depending on temp. I'm not going to say it idles like stock though, my stock B16 didn't have 800cc injectors nor did it have a open down pipe, which shakes the living **** out of the car. I spent a week and a half on the dyno and with the help of others and AEM tech's(JP), I was able to tune the car to about 60% and made 250 whp and 200 ft lbs at 6700-6800 rpm's so I still have more rpm's to go and that was at 7 lbs. I had trouble, well still could be having trouble with my MSD and 3 bar. Misfire was hurting my performance. I changed the MSD 6A to a 6AL and relocated my 3 bar to help, but haven't been back to the dyno. I'm shooting for 270-280 ish on 7 lbs. Keep working with it, my main concern was getting the A/F ratio right for breakin, then move on to more tuning after that. I have like 80 plus runs under my belt so far. Best of luck getting things running. BTW, most people don't got to the AEM forums to brag, atleast that's what I've noticed. I only go for questions or research info. Later Allen
Now that you say that, that does make sense... people go to that site only to
get help.. I would just like to hear more success stories! I guess the product's
still rather early, and needs maturing (or nice base maps).
Anyway, doesn't cranking your engine for 3-4 seconds every start ruin the
starter motor, or strain the alternator?
Also, how far away is the Auto-tune functionality?

As for starting it, I don't know what type of strain or damage it will cause. The Autotune I don't know they were saying month end, but who knows. It's also expensive to get, so keep that in mind.
