Default 93 civic si

i am looking at buying a 93 civic si. It has a bent radiator support bar but only where the hood latch is, also the valve cove does not say vtec on it. is it still a d16 z6?

i would imagine it is still a d series regardless of if it says v tec or not.
My d16y8 just says HONDA. Idk about other d series valve covers, but i would guess they are similar.

fixed.

To be able to determine whether the engine is a D16Z6 or otherwise, just look for the engine code as stated by hix1681.

Here's a picture for reference.

If you can't see the numbers in the pictures then I would ask the seller to take a clear picture of the engine code stamped on the block.

The engine code for D-series engines is usually located on the right side when look at the vehicle from the front bumper. D16Z6 and Y8 did not have to say Vtec on the Valve covers a lot of V-tec motors do not have V-tec written on the valve cover.....any questions feel free to ask.......
