low mile sc61 blew oil seal
Well my precision sc61 took a dump on me last night (less than 2k miles on it) lots of oil in turbine housing (seal)... I'm using the same feed/return set up i used on my old turbonetics turbo w/o problems for 30k+ miles so to say I'm dissapointed is an understatement. It sucks that my 1 year warranty is up (I unfortunately had a lot of downtime before running the turbo
)
In case anyones is wondering, its a 3 an line and the turbo doesn't see more than 50psi since myoil gauge t'd with turbo feed.
I just dont know if its worth sending to precision or another shop (better parts?) for a rebuild.
any thoughts/opinions from anyone thats been down this precise path before (pun intended ha ha)
Any opinions on precision's rebuilds versus a place like blaast performance or majestic etc?

50psi seems like a lot of oil pressure even for a non-ball bearing turbo. I had my garrett rebuilt by blaast performance and was pretty satisfied. I emailed blaast about oil feed pressure for my journal bearing turbo and he said I shouldn't exceed 25psi. I thought blaast did a good job on the rebuild but you will probably be without the turbo for 3-4weeks.

Just had my Precision PT6176SP rebuilt by Blaast... Ill let you know how she looks when I get her back, later this week ... I have over 10000 constantly abused miles on mine, overreved the motor on a mis shift, and the pump broke...Im a moron, didnt catch it...kept raping on it, and had to have mine rebuilt...
BUT ran 80 PSI through a -3 feed, -10 nice sloping return, and NEVER EVER had a problem with it. not 1 puff of smoke... Well over 600WHOP at 26 PSI....

i just want a reputable/trustworthy shop with decent turnaround time to get it done RIGHT.
thanks so far for all of your suggestions.
