Default turbo help

a friend did a turbo setup in his car and everything came together great, but here it comes, the return line came off "his drive way isnt the best". and the oil was getting backed up in the turbo. he wants to know if the turbo is any good? he drove with the car like that for about 5 miles
im telling him its not but he still wants me to ask you guys

so ya like he said. its my turbo and i ran it for about 5 miles like that. and i was woundering if its any good

is it chugging smoke out the exhaust? did you hook it back up right?

I dont see how the turbo had oil "building up" inside of it if the return line came off. I can see this if the line got kinked and even at that I doubt you hurt the turbo considering it still got oil to the bearings. You may have over-pressurized the turbo and pushed some oil out of the seals causing it to smoke. i'd say hook it back up, run the car for a couple of pulls and see if the smoke stops.

Depending on the quality of the turbo depends on the abuse it can take as well.
