Crank Pulley
I'm trying to do my water pump. So according to my Chiltons, I have to remove the crank pulley. I tried wedging a bolt into the pulley and turning it with a ratchet and a cheater bar, and snapped my extension in half. Then tried with my electric impact, and couldnt turn it. Put the torch on it for 6min straight, hit it with the impact, and nothing. I don't have the correct pulley to be able to use the 'honda pulley tool' it doesnt have the teeth on the inside its just a round hole... HELP!
maybe you need a bigger compressor.
i tried doing the samething with a small compressor at home and nothing.
went to my friend tire shop and used his equipment to get that crank out
goodluck,

ehh mine came right off with a breakerbar and deep well socket didnt even strain myself.
but yeah anything that is torqued on i wouldnt suggest using a standard ratchet as they arnt ment to take a beating.
i dont think they are a problem untill a mechanic goes crazy with the impact wrench when puting them on there not supose to be on that tight anyways

stick two bolts into the holes and use it as a leverage point.the bolts have to be tuff maybe some from a hardware store.then get your hands on a bad *** pry bar, wedge it between the two bolts and the ground.use a 1/2'' breaker bar and a impact socket, no need for an extension.has worked for me everytime.i was told this by an old honda tech, so far he is right. oh and that heat that you put on the bolt, you might want to consider replacing the crankshaft seal now just so that you dont have to go back in.most likely due to the heat it is cooked.
I have always used an impact on them. But you could try putting it up on jackstands and putting a breaker bar on it. Put the breaker bar on the ground and just tap the engine over...do not start it. make sure you have the breaker bar the right way tho. or the bolt may break. The engine should be able to break the bolt loose.
just use your teeth, thats what works the best... Spray it with tons of brakecleaner/other lubricants such as WD40, use 1/2 inch drive with at least a 3 foot long cheater, and wedge sometihng to keep the flywheel from moving. your welcome
^ that might work yet brake parts cleaner dries up and wd 40 is a lubricant not a penetrant.. something more like pb blaster or twister, but ive not had any luck with that.you also have a greater coverage area with a bar and bolts vs. one tooth on the flywheel youll break screw drivers all day long or prybar tips or even worse the flywheel.just trying to save you from breaking something.not trying to be a smart *** just previous experiences.

This works on most vehicles but not hondas. Honda motors crank in reverse. All this does is make the bolt tighter. I tried and found out the hard way.

ive always used LOTS of PSI and a good @ss air impact gun. never had any problem geting them out with no bracing at all....
but if ya dont have the right tools ya cannt do the job... first off dont cheap out! cheap tools break really easily!!!!!! buy quality tools and they shouldnt snap at least not as easy
for items i cannt use the impact gun on a use a 1/2inch socket set and good craftsman sockets/extensions and break bar, and at times i need extra leverage a jack handle works great as a longer break bar!

it took me a whole day to get it off, its a biatch! the way i got it off was with a impact wrench and not only untighting it but also tighting it up. so i would tighten it up then untighten it... back n forth till it came off. good luck
