Just like Windex... spray and wipe off debris.

pull your car out in the sun when its nice and toasty outside, and spray simple green everywhere be very liberal with it, once it sits 10-15 or so, do another liberal coating let it sit 10-15 again and hose it all off the dirt and nasty ish will come off like butter and the car smells good too when your done.

If you want something easier, get a can of "Foamy engine bright" at any auto supply store. It's an orange and blue can with an engine pictured on it.
It comes out as a foam so it sticks and doesn't run down everywhere. Just cover all the electronic stuff, spray away, wait for a couple minutes (read directions on can I don't remember) and then hose it down with water, BAM! all done. I used this on my valve cover when there was oil or brake fluid or something stuck to it. It wouldn't come off with scrubbing with anything! The foamy engine bright took it off in two seconds. I have to do this to my engine again soon. Mine is looking pretty bad

what i do is i go to a self wash car place and bring a few plastic bags you know what to cover so your engine doesnt turn off, then spray your simple green and then just wash it off with the high pressure hose engine bay will be fresh

I don't know what everyone's talking about with covering up all these electronics. Take your battery out, wrap some saran wrap around your fuze box if you're paranoid, and spray away. all the wiring connections, distributer, and alternator are MADE to be waterproof, so spraying them down does nothing. I've done this twice on my car in the last two months and it starts up perfectly, immediately after cleaning it.
