Why Is My Stereo Kicking Off When I tap the Brake Pedal?
I asked this in the Audio forum, but didnt get many responses so I'll ask here.
Background: Ive got a JVC deck in my R, and its been there for almost 2 years now with no problems. I installed it myself with a harness adapter I picked up from a local audio shop. The only other thing done to my stereo is an amp wire kit with nothing at the other end. (I havent gotten around to buying a sub and amp.) The rest is completly stock.
Problem: Yesterday I was driving home from work and noticed that whenever I touched the brakes the stereo would kick off and back on real quick. (not even long enough for the antenna to go down at all) The first thing to cross my mind was a battery problem, but wouldnt that affect other things, like lights dimming, and at least the battery indicator coming on? Also, it doesnt do it everytime I touch the brakes. Just every so often. Everything else is normal with the car.
Does anyone have a suggestion? Thanks in advance.

ck your connections in the back or the radio then the ground wires, If all else fails rewire. You don't want any damage to the car's harness if something shorts bad, right?
Possible a power wire has worked itself inbetween the petal assembly?
I wired a remote radar detector on my mustang, and I kept blowing the head units and couldn't figure out why. Finally I shipped the whole thing back to get my money back, and when I took out the power and antena harness out, it was jamed inbetween the clutch petal! Doh!

well, I yanked the deck out and looked around. I didnt find anything out of the ordinary so I put it back in and went for a drive. I guess I fixed it cause its not doing it anymore. Thanks for your responses!
