Default eletrical problem

alrite the car is a 94 cx hatch and i am running a 1200 watt system. I have the hifonics brutus amp and tthe kicker comp vx. I just recently bought a new battery, now the problem is something is either drainging my battery to quickly or my alternator isnt charging fast enough. heres an example im driving w/o my deck or amp on but the battery line for my amp is connected, my car would barely have enough juice to crank over sometimes or the lights inside would go so dim i could barely see anything. when i do have my deck on with amp driving is koo but when i turn the car off and try to start it back up i get nothing but lights are on inside. Now when i take off the battery line to the amp everythign is perfectly ok. so my question is what the hell is going on, could my amp still be drawing in so much power even when its off? or is my alternator going bad?

Make sure that your remote wire is turning off when your head unit turns off.

We often get these problems where customers think they have diagnosed and isolated the problem (as you said, unplugging the amp). Most of the time it turns out that the customer's diagnosis was false for whatever reason and it's simply a weak battery or alternator.

You need at least a DVM to check the remote wire as SirGDC suggested. You can also have the battery and alternator tested for free at most auto parts stores. You could have a mechanic measure the amount of current draw when the car is off and compare it to spec.

There really not much else to test for you srry. Take mr. hatch advice and go from there. Then you will have a place to start.
