95 hatch SI having problems
ok, ill make this short and simple. I have a buddy with a 95 civic hatch Si.
The problem we are having goes like this,
The car has no CEL, and it seems to be hittin vtec at roughly 3800-4200rpms and it is topping out at 5900-6200rpms ( when i say topping out, i mean NO rev limiter, just wont go any higher in rpms)
i see that his guage cluster is the original one and it has a redline of 72 or 7300...so i think something is a little fishy here...
one more thing, i checked the vtec solonoid and it is wired fine (all factory no splicing anywhere) and the ECU is a P28 and down there where the ecu goes i see no alterations in the harness of any sort, so to me it looks all OEM and not tampered with.
Any ideas??

yeah...i would think it would be an ecu problem. the vtec selenoid shouldnt be rewired cuz its already a vtec car. that would be very pointless to mess with the vtec wiring. i would rechip like vtecb18c said...or just pick up another p28.

I had a problem in my 94 EX and it was hitting the rev-limiter at around 6600 rpm's and doing a bunch of stupid crap, I also thought it was a ECU problem, but I changed my guage cluster out with another EX cluster and the car started running normal. I hope this helps
