i was wondering does your guys car still idel when you unplugg the iacv because on my 98 honda prelude when i unplug the iacv the car just dies what is causing it???

 

it should idle without it plugged in... typically you set your idle to aprox 550+/-50 with the iacv disconnected.... with it plugged back in, it should idle higher aprox 700 +/- 50... (no load condition) perhaps your idle is set too low to maintain when the Iacv is disconnected?

 

well i dont know my idle screw even if i turn it out all the way to get more air it still dies when i unplug the iacv??? im troubled

 

it should still idle 700+/-50 with the iacv unplugged. Are all accessories, A/C, etc turned off when you unplug IACV?

 

yes everything is turned off but it still dont idle

 

so other than the idle issue, everything else is running good?

 

other than idle issue everything else runs good also i have to state that sometimes the idle is so low n bad that the car just dies but there was never a time i couldnt get it to start up.

 

have you checked ignition timing? have you done all the basic maintenance like cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, etc?

 

well my ignition timming on the 97-01 prelude are set by the ecu and cant be set, i check cap n rotor and seems good i put in new plugs, wires but not the fuel filter though
