JRSC versus Drag 3 or FMAX or Greddy or Rev Hard
I know, I know. The supercharger versus turbo debate has been hammered over and over and over.
But I want to look at the debate strictly from the “real world” performance side. I have read all about the upgrade issues, the reliability issues, the maintenance issues and all the other issues. I’ve seen fancy dyno charts with torque curves and WHPs.
What I want to hear is how they perform “on the street” with the standard, “out of the box” kit. For now, let’s forget about upgrading this and boosting that. I’m talking about straight of the box performance from the JRSC versus a straight out of the box turbo kit from Drag 3, FMAX, Greddy or Rev Hard. From what I have read, all five FI setups give around 5-7 PSI and some turbo kits come with intercoolers.
Assume that the turbo or SC is mounted on a 98 GSR (like mine) with stock internals and the engine is properly tuned after the install.
I have two simple questions.
Question 1. Of the four setups, which one is the quickest from 0 – 60 mph? (I assume the JRSC has an advantage here with the low-end torque)
Question 2. Of the four setups, which will turn the quickest quarter mile time?
Again, forget about upgrading. Which one gives the best performance (0 – 60 and best ¼ mile time) from the STANDARD KIT?

Turbo Turbo Turbo
Straight out of the box the turbo kit will out perform the jrsc very badly. With the JRSC you are looking at mid to low 14s. With the turbo you will be in the 13s easily. Go TURBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Turbo all the way. Everybody told me go turbo but i didn't listen. I bought the JRSC for my 99 civic si and was dissapointed!!! I took it off in less than a year and sold it. I just finished my custom turbo setup and should be installing it in the next few weeks. There is no comparison...
turbo is the best bet but which kit? DRAG 3 only because for the money it put out the best hp and tq and also has 1/4 mile times of low 13 high 12 with stock internals. out of the box kit drag will take it all. fmax and rev hard are real good kits but cost a **** load, greddy good only if you want a street legal kit but for power it sucks and cost way too much. if you really dont know what to do i suggest doing a custom kit
