thermostat?
I replaced OEM thermostat, good used radiator, new z6 headgasket, new OEM cap and waterpump and i bleed all the air bubble out now my question is coolant is not sucking back into the radiator from the overflow and the lower radiator hose is not getting hot after 45-1hr of driving is that normal? or the tstat is not opening? is it safe to run without one for a day just to see if theres any changes. it doesnt overheat until 2-3 days when the overflow is full to the top i just pour the coolant from the overflow back into the radiator adn drive for another 2-3 days LOL no leak also did a leak down test and compression good on all 4...
are you turbocharged? if so i ran into this problem before, the head lifts under boost. arp studs and a new head gasket are a must and make sure you retorqe the head studs after about 10 hot soaks.
I dont know why you would want it to suck back from the overflow.
When I do my RF I add it from the cap, turn the car on and keep filling it I see no more bubbles. The fluid is usually pretty warm and it starts to over flow slightly. Then I will give it a few good revs to make sure all the bubbles are out.
The next couple days I will add more if needed. The overflow tank is not utilized in that process. Then I just fill overflow tank to the middle and its done.
So I am wondering why you want it to suck it back from the over flow. Maybe the hose is cracked somewhere.

I thought the purpose of the overflow is when the car warms up the coolant boils over to the overflow and when it cools down it goes back into the radiator...correct me if im wrong?
correct, it is saposed to suck the coolant back into the system when it cools off, but if your head is lifting it pushes air into the cooling system taking the space of the coolant that should be in there.
