Default P28 on b18c1

Hey I have a GSR b18c1 swap in my '92 Eg HB.Im using a chipped p28 and I don't think Im getting good gas milage. As a guess I'd say I'm getting 15mpg.My car also spits out light blackishgray smoke.Should I change the ECU to see if I can get better gas milage.

Thanks

Well black smoke indicates you're running rich - you could have the wrong fuel map burnt on.

Go get another chip from a company (plenty around here on H-T) - just a regular chip with a B18C1 basemap burnt onto it - pop it in, and see if there's a difference.

If there's no difference, then your problem is elsewhere, though I would just double check the contents of that chip - and a chip in and of itself isn't too much, I'd try that first.

EDIT:
Or if you can borrow a P72 to use, that's fine too, but I wouldn't bother buying one.

Also, if everything with the ECU is fine, change out ur primary O2 sensor.

A big question is, when do you start getting the smoke? at idle? 4k rpm? under heavy loads? WOT only? more info bro

sounds like you just need a stock p72 computer, which i have.
havent looked inside to see if i have chipped it yet, however its for sale.
if your concerns are gas MPG, you should get a p72 or have the IAB's installed onto your p28. stock maps w/ IAB's will get you good gas MPG again.

How much would you sell the P72 for? And if I wanted to keep the P28 how much would it cost to have the IAB's installed into my P28?..

Dood just have someone on here, thats in your area of florida and get a good street tune spend the 200-250 bucks. That will help if not fix all of your problems. Not to mention you will make more power! That is unless you have another issue.

p72 for 130$ + ship.

Adding IABs for 25 to a p28 only!

Check around in your area for a p72 first to save yourself shipping. IMO a p72 is gonna be your best bet for the money.

yea at least 250 and remember its a stock gsr, so the HP or even TQ improvments are NOT worth the money.

For some odd reason I like using my P28,but yea your right,I think I'm just gunna go buy a P72 and see if that helps. But since my P28 is chipped and I pop V-Tec at almost 5,000 rpm wouldn't the stock P72 change that unless I chipp it.
