Would I gain any advantages of buying a p28 and chipping it over chipping my stock p13? What's the difference? And would tuning a chipped ecu make a noticeable difference?

sure. i wouldnt even do that! but! thats me i had 2 ecus chipped before
a. car ran like shittt
b. waste of money
Unless you wana chip a ecu to read fatter injectors i wouldnt bother

It really depends on a lot of factors.
The major factor is: What modifications does the vehicle have?
All chipped p28s are not equal. The thing that makes a chipped ecu perform is the program that is on it.

And if I'm not mistaken the P13 really isn't one of the best hardware platforms for chipping. There isn't a hole lot of software/code support for them is there?

I have a stock jdm h22 with headers/exhaust/intake
I actually found out that P13's aren't supported by tuning software that's why I'd have to go p28
You could also modify the P28 to operate the IABs (secondary runners) if you are keeping them. If you are unable to get a decently priced P28. Then a chipped and modified P06 (P28 equivalent) will do the trick. Just have to add VTEC and IAB components when they chip it.
Really depends on your engine setup what ECU will work best for you. if you don't have any big engine modifications your stock P13 will probably suffice for now

LOL. basically the same because your burning your dyno tuning maps onto a chip and putting it in your ecu. the difference is that tuning puts your setup to its most potential. Besides how do you put IAB components into a p28.? does anyone here carry it?
You solder them.....Just like adding VTEC to a P06.
Carry it.... no. I leave all of my ECUs stock until I get an order. Then I customize each ECU to the buyers specs. I do have a couple P28's and the IAB components in stock... you interested?

i can make a stock car faster just by chipping the computer and spending about 2 hours street tuning it with my wideband doesnt have to be modified to make it faster
Yeah chipping an ECU and running it without a tune is a good example of what not to do. The power/reliability is more in the quality of the tune, not just the chipping. Basemaps are just that, a base on which to start tuning from. They should not be relied upon for running your engine.
I have tested and working H22 basemaps for a P28 I can send you to get you started. Or if you want a custom one I can program the IAB to your A/C clutch output. It's not free though.
