D15 to D16 questions.
Ok, so I have a 92 Civic VX with a D15Z1 that only gets the best numbers at the pump. I'm pondering with the idea of a Z6 swap. But I have a few money saving questions.
1. What would it do if I took a Z6 head and intake manifold and put it onto the Z1 block? Since the Z1 has a SLIGHTLY higher compression or would the Z6 head drop that compression? Also I would have the Z6 ECU so I can lose that damn money saving VTEC-E.
2. Would it hurt the VX transmission to bolt it onto the Z6 temporarily until I get the cash for the Z6 tranny? Since the Z6 revs higher and obviously has more power than the Z1's tranny which has such long gears and was made for the VX specifically. Would that damage it from about a maximum of a months use.
3. Also is there a difference between the 92-95 SI and EX 5-speed transmissions or are they the same thing?
4. Also is there a difference between the 92-95 SI and EX ECU's or are they also the same thing?
Thanks in advance.
BTW I plan to EVENTUALLY turbo it once I get my third car (have an 88 hatch but its got 300k and is basically dead and stripped). But I'm only 17 so that could be a while.

Do not try to put a Z6 head on a Z1, your going to drop you compression waaayy down. a complete D16Z6 wouldn't be a bad way to go though, or a D15B vtec, they're both very similar. yes you can use the VX tranny, it will be ungodly long, but it wont hurt it. If swapping out the P07 VX ecu you will have to do some O2 sensor wiring as the VX has a 5 wire wideband O2 sensor. As pepsiDX20 stated EX/Si trannys and ECUs are identical.

If you want to use the Z1 block , try the PM7 pistons that have the 88-89 integra, this pistons will raise the compression way up!
But anyway use the complete D16Z6 if you can , more torque though.

im new to honda tech and i want to start a thread but it wont let me rite now. BUT im in the middle of puttin a d16z6 in a 92 honda vx hatchback i got the motor in and the vx harness on the d16z6 the vx harness vtec solenoid conector is diferent so i was gona take the one of the z6 harness and wire it up (i think) and the o2 sensor doesnt fit so i took the o2 sensor off the vx and plugged it in i dnt kno if i was suppse to do that because i seen a thread for converting the o2 sensors over i dnt kno im really confused i=and frustrated i dont kno if the o2 sensor would keep it from starting but when i crank it the rpm gauge and the mph gauge go back and forth back and forth every time i try to crank the car over thats all i got. please help me honda-tech
