what do you do to keep your race cars trannys going? ive heard of some places running over 800 on stock transmissions but im on my 3rd one since march and im still on low boost and street tires. what do you guys suggest since i keep blowing the teeth off my second gear and i have a 6 puck act clutch. Is there an aftermarket gear that i can buy or treatment to make my transmission last longer ? thanks for all the help

 

stock ITR 4.7 trans here have had over 200 passes and 50,000 Daily driven miles (beating on it alot). and ive only replaced my synchro's just for that reassurance. what kind of fluid are you using? are you leaking fluid? Are you down shifting when you break? if so are you revmatching.

 

well are u getting alot of wheel hop, if so thats why. u need to back off "just a little" on the perdal till it hooks then hit it. u cant come out full throttle & expect the car to perform on street tires. my car only made 191whp at one point & i drove it consistent 13.6s all day. so the key is trottle control.

How much power are you making? You can get your gears heat treated by racersteve on here. Are you running a traction bar? Stock mounts? Can you give some more information about your setup?

im not breaking on a downshift when i break it. and the first time i had acura fluid but i heard that the formula has changed so i went with another company.

 

yeah i hear you man. this car is more of freeway race car when your on street tires

 

its a 35r with 1.06 turbine housing on a sleeved 2.0 but im only running it on the street with 14lbs of boost. i have hasport mounts. I was going to get a traction bar but it doesnt really hop just clean burnoffs.

How much does the heat treating cost.

do you know of a stronger 2nd gear?

 

i just broke second gear on my turbo'd street car as well. just wondering have you been getting new tannies everytime or just replacing second gear?

ok mines is an R as well but i was a little worried about the amount of scrapnel from the gear in the tranny. i wanna rebuild it but i was wooried about scrapnel coming out and destroying more gears in the future.
