Idle Problem while braking
Hey ppl. I was just on my friends 05 RSX Type s yesterday and i noticed he has this problem
As he is braking from any speed he might be going, his rpm stays at about 2-2500 until he is completely stopped. This will happen every single time. has anyone come acrcross this that might be able to help us out?
Thank you

i personally would check my vacuum lines first, as a vac leak would/can cause erratic/low idle speeds. Secondly i would check and clean my EGR valve. if the EGR valve is dirty, it may stick open and allow un-metered air into the intake manifold between the throttle body and intake runners causing erratic idles also. and since ur at it check to see if ur PCV valve is still functional... take it out and shake it, if it rattles its still good...
I must note that i dnt know K-series engines as i am a Mazdaspeed fanatic, but the basics should still apply here

when i first got my car...
my car would REV way up!!!
every time i braked!
...Every time!
then my friend noticed i had been wearing Clown shoes all summer...
long story short- dont press down on BOTH pedals while slowing!
or do like i did... and get smaller shoes!
(sorry this post has no real answer to your problems... good luck bump!)

My a3 and a2 would stay up around 1200 until I completely stopped and then it would go down to 800. It's normal for it to idle higher while moving but not around 2000...
Do an ECU reset, check vaccum line to brake booster.

i was just browsing around and stumbled across this thread. I have a 97 acura 2.2 CL (f22b1) and my car does this too but not at as a high rpm. mine holds the rpms around 1200-1500 but when i come to a stop it drops to normal. it used to do it worse but i cleaned my idle air control valve and it helped it a bit, so that might be something to try (if your motors even have an IAC, i am unfamiliar with them)
