it's a 2000 gsr. it's been like this since i bought it but took a friend for a ride the other day and he said it just wasn't right. when im below 2-2.5k rpm's, if i give any significant amount of throttle the car wont accelerate, it just hiccups and bucks and everything. i thought it mighta just been normal, just a rev happy car, but i want to check because it's very annoying. i mean if im pulling away from a stop light in first gear at 5mph and step on it, the car just bucks and goes crazy, i have to have it above 2500rpm's til i can stomp on it. please help. thanks in advance.

Well it is definitely not normal. Things I would check in order:
Throttle Cable
Air Filter
Grounds
Mounts
Fuel
Spark
Compression

 

have you messed with the ECU?

it sounds like your fuel maps are messed up...

Did u put the ECU from another car thinking it was gona somehow make ur car better?

 

when i had stuttering/hiccuping problems in lower rpms it was a combination of a dirty fuel filter, bad spark plugs and mangled up distributor rotor. i also replaced my o2 sensor but found out i didn't really need to, but good to replace if its been awhile.

i have the same problem, i have tried everything except retuning the car because im finishing the port polishing on the head, when i retune again and it stops i will let you know

check your cams for proper alignment.
could be tps too.

Check the timing, fuel, and ignition components.

 

tried 3 TPS, 2 used and 1 new, so TPS isnt.

0.46v closed
4.56v open

 

tomorrow i will test new spark plugs (Denso 5304 IK20 Iridium) ?
and new spark cables,
i will report

at high RPM and higer speed i dont have problems....

my dizzy is in 16º

 

i did a test...

with a strange result

with engine running and idle fluctuating i unplug ONE spark cable, plug again and the idle stop fluctuating

 

The stock plugs are NGK/Denso platinum. Stick with those or buy the NGK copper ones (V power).
