Default OEM Part Numbers - temp sensors

I am fighting a cooling problem on my daughters 1992 Accord lx, calif version, 2.2 enginge. Vin 1HGCB7654NA028230. 160,000 miles

I have replaced the thermostat, the main relay (oem honda part), the radiator timer (oem honda part), and swapped the cooling fan and power window relays. Radiator and antifreeze is 2 yrs old, hoses good, no water in oil, no oil in water, engine runs fine.

Problem is; sometimes the fans come on, sometimes they dont. (Which is why I chgd the radiator timer). It gets warm, almost to the top of the white, when idling. When you can move again, the temp goes down. Both fans work sometimes, and turn freely when spun by hand (engine off and cold).

I have read that there are two sensors that influence the fans.

Armed with that, I went down to the local parts store, and bought two sensors and installed them, properly bled the beast, problem still exists.

Now comes the rub. I am wondering if a) I replaced the right sensor, and b) if I received the correct aftermarket sensor from the parts store.

The two sensors I replaced are in the thermostat housing, and in the water outlet housing (the one the top radiator hose attaches to).

They have different diameters, so you cant mix them up.

Then, I read about the TW Sensor. It is located in the head, directly below the distributor. Armed with the old sensor I took out of the thermostat housing, I went and removed the TW sensor wire connector, and realized that they used the same electrical connetor on both sensors.

So, I dont know if I replaced the thermostat housing sensor with the correct aftermarket part. Another thing I see is that the plastic part of the OEM thermostat housing sensor is purple, and it appears that the plastic part of the TW sensor (below the distrib) is white, leading me to believe they are not the same part number.

Could one of you experienced Honda part nbr gurus help me figure out the correct OEM part numbers, so I can order both oem parts online and save a buck please?

By the way, the part number of the aftermarket sensor I installed in the thermostat housing is a Wells part nbr SW546, and is called a 'Fan Sensor' on the box...... I can help but wonder if I should have used that to replace the TW sensor instead.

Thank you,
Bob

The Parts you are calling out actually work as Switches, not sensors.

Thermal switch "A" is the one at the T-stat housing.[P/N 37773-PT0-004]
You should be able to jumper the plug with the key on and the fans will run.

Thermal switch "B" is located in the water outlet from the head.
[P/N 37773-PT3-A01]
You should be able to jumper that plug within 5 minutes of turning the key off and it will signal the fan control module that the coolant is too hot and the fans will run.

These are the actual names of the switches in the Honda Electrical Manual;
I inform you of this fact because Mr Hondadude was recently banned from this website because some youngster complained about the switch names.

I believe that switch A turns on approx 195 degrees, and switch B turns on approx 205-210 degrees

Mr Yamada

Thank you very much for those numbers. May I ask you for one more please? What is the part number for that TW Sensor, located right below the distributor? Would you know what temp that one is set for?

Thank you again, especially how quickly you came up with those nbrs.

that P/N is 37870-PK2-005 It has a 2 pin connector and is located in the head under the distributor.
It is not a switch, the unit contains a thermistor that changes resistance as the temperature changes thereby sending a variable voltage signal to the ECU/PCM.

That Sensor would have no bearing/effect on the fans running or not.
