Default ummm so my clutch pedal seems to get really stiff after driving for awhile?

when I first start it up and drive a bit, seems to be fine. after driving for awhile, it seems to get really stiff, and engages a lot higher than normal. fluid is bled, and topped off. any ideas?

Odd.... you haven't switched lines or anything recently have you? Not sure what that may have to do with it, but curious. As it heats up it will expand, but you wouldn't think enough to make the pedal pressure feel substantially different.

Maybe a leak in the line letting air in when it gets warm. I'm assuming you have rebled the lines?

hmm i actually noticed recently that my master cyl was damp right below the cap, almost as if it had started to overflow slowly. i wonder if something is getting hot and/or seizing up causing it to be hard to push and/or pushing fluid out of the master cyl cap...

if you were losing fluid your pedal would feel weaker though.

How old it your master cylinder (mileage)? Typically, right around the time the seals give out, it will get stiffer.....not exactly sure why (maybe seal swell, or scoring insode the bore?). Is there any fluid under your clutch pedal, up near where the pushrod comes through the firewall?

I had the exact same problem....eventually replaced both master and slave and it was fine after that.

I have also heard of the slave cyl ball pivot in the release fork getting sticky when hot....Honda specifies a super-high temp Urea grease for that pivot....but when it gets old it tends to get tacky.

JD it wasnt exactly pouring out, I just noticed it was a little wet. coulda been from when I was bleeding and spilled it or whatever.

not really sure how many miles on it. I guess at the very least i could replace the slave since its not that expensive. didnt notice any leaking near the master or clutch pedal and replacing that would be a bit more of a PITA.

Similar issue on my S2K when I owned it. I fixed it by:

1. Bleeding and replacing the fluid
2. On the S2K, the slave has a "ball" on the end of the rod that goes into the transmission. I greased the "ball".
I hope this makes sense.... we all know I am not supposed to work on my car anyway

If you didn't grease it with the appropriate temp grease it could be your issue.

LOL, even I've replaced the clutch master cylinder. That should be an indication as to how easy it is.

maybe your left leg is just getting tired .....but maybe your clutch master cylinder is worn out so bad when you push the pedal down the fluid pressure has no where to go but out the cap.....also check out under the dash where the pedal slave is usually when they are **** they leak on the inside down onto the carpet.

my thoughts too, although I've never had to do this (or heard of having to do this) on a clutch MC though. Maybe Mugen Mike has been spitting in your reservoir. I've heard his spit is thicker and milkier than most.... :barf:

replaced the master and slave, seems to be ok now.

the old master shows some slight leakage inside the rubber cab, and the old slave sticks a little when pushing on the push rod. all good now i guess.
