Default transmission; how many quarts for your civic?

last time i flushed out my tranny fluid it used up 2 1/2 quarts. now only 1 quart, and it started spilling out like a mug. i still force a second quart in there. but i think i've only used up 1.5.

what you guys think?

At dealership 3 days ago, I was informed my D16Y8 automatic transmission takes 2.7 quarts. What transmission are you on?

I drain my tranny with the car on jacks, and fill my tranny with the car sitting on the ground.

In my experience, D-series manuals take a little less than 2 qts. and B-series manuals take a little more than 2 qts.

I don't know anything that takes "only 1 quart"...

As the man above me said, I also did it on jack stands and then filled it up on the ground. Ive got a d16y8 an I think it took about 2 quarts and if I could have added anything probably would have been minimal.
P.S. Dont forget the crush washer either! Only .32 cents!

You gotta use a funnel for an automatic transmission such as:

They only cost a couple of bucks...

Stick it in the tranny fill hole below you lower the car. Snake it down between the intake tube and the firewall.

Fill your tranny, pull the funnel and cap it off!

Simple pimple!!!
