Default how long can you keep engine oil for?

im in a decision to buying (2) 12 quart cases of Royal Purple oil from a friend that works for the company. i was wondering how long can i keep engine oil for? cause if i have a total of 24 quarts, and only use 3-4 quarts every 3 months, will the rest of the oil lose its viscosity, and weight?

any help gladly appreciated!

If it's sealed, I would say a good couple of years. Plus, it's synthetic. That doesn't have the same break down type properties of conventional oil
