Default 5spd transmission swap question

I have a 1987 accord LXi 2.0 and the tranny lost 5th gear. I found another 5spd transmission out of a 1988 carbed model 2.0 that is good. Is there any difference in transmissions between these two? If i recall, only the carb models were in canada. I can get this fairly cheap, and would it be an equivalent tranny to the one that I have in? Is there any reference to another thread or website on these transmissions? Is it the same gear ratios? thanks in advance.

They'll swap right across. The ratios are slightly different, but it should be barely noticeable. Carb'd and PGM-FI models were available throughout the world. Check 3geez.com FAQ for the proper ratios.

ok, so i got a transmission out of a 1988 accord (don't know trim level)
everything seems to be OK, except..... the starter. On my 87 lxi, the starter diameter is about 2.5". on the 88 that i want to put in, its 3". any possible way to put a 88 starter and solenoid in? anybody else know about these different diameters? HELP
