87 Accord Won't stay running when in nuetral or clutch is pushed in.
I have a Carburated accord dx 5 speed that won't stay running when I push the clutch in or when it is in nuetral unless I hold the throttle a little. I replaced the plugs, cap and rotor, pcv valve and did a oil change and still no luck. I thought maybe the cat was clogged so i hollowed it out since I don't have to worry about DEQ. Also when I changed the plugs a couple of them were a red color and the exhaust seems to be a little on the hot side. thinking maybe the O2 sensor is bad but not sure how to check it and don't want to waste the money on one if I don't need it. other wise the car runs great under power besides a little bit of studering at a steady speed. Any help would be appreciated.

The first thing to check is for vacuum leaks, which can be a chore with the hundreds of miles of vacuum lines the late 80's carbed cars have. If you are certain you don't have a vacuum leak then my next guess would be the solenoid on the rear of the carb. If this solenoid is not working the car will not idle.
Good luck with it.
