idle problem

when the vechicle is cold. the idle would like drop below 1k an car sometimes dies. also engine check light is on.....

i just got this car,
so can it be map sesor? air idle control valve>>>????

i had this problem before and it was the crankcase breather. just make sure the engine isnt drawing in any air. then clean the idle control valve. that should sort it.
