Default Zc timing belt?

I went to Auto zone today and asked for part number 14400-pk2-004. The guy said that they can't cross reference Honda parts. I know it's off a 88 Prelude but then he had two differnt part numbers, one was for a F.I. and the other for a Carb. one....which one do I use?

Get a new one, how old do you know that one is. Do not buy anything but a genuine honda belt. Ask me how I know? New Gates belt jumped time EVERY time engine went over 4,000 rpm. had to retime the damn thing 4 times in the first week. Kept jumping till I bought a Honda belt that was only $4 more anyway. If the old belt snapps pistons WILL be kissing valves, AND you WILL be hating life.

In my personal experience the difference in what the Honda belt cost and what all th rest cost I would just buy the honda. To save 4 dollars I lost 23. And I still had to buy the honda belt. I am sure some of the others must be better but why take a chance the way I see it. If the no name belt breaks a year from now what happens, you trash your engine. Buy the altenator or Air conditioning belt at TARGET or Walmart, but use OEM Timing belts. Way too much is at stake. Gates is a good brand, but their Honda belts are trash. I lost my reciept and even if they took it back they would have exchanged it for another that did the same thing. Should have listened to the advice I was given and gotten the honda belt to begin with.

I agree with virginia... Some things should always be Honda's brand....

Timing Belts = Yes
Water Pump = Probably (I like their fins better than all of the aftermarket ones I've bought)
O2 Sensor = Yes
Any other important sesor = Yes

Pretty much anything that is of high importance. Sure you pay more, but you get more. I'm sure Honda belts are just made by someone similar to Gates, but they're made to Honda's specs for quality, materials, size, etc.

Use the one from the 88 Prelude Si (the fuel injected one).
