Default VTEC OIL LINE QUESTION.....WHY 6AN?????

why does everyone use 6AN (3/8 inside diam.)? when tapping off the oil pressure sending unit with a tee, wouldn't it be ok to use 1/4" inside diam.? it seems like a smaller hose diam. would make a higher pressure. would it be ok to use 3/16ths or 1/4" inside diam? the oil pressure sending unit only has like a 3/16th opening to begin with. if i do use a tee, do i have to make the oil line bigger off the tee.

please do not answer unless you can give any proof to back your statement. and no im not buying the ge kit. im fabbing up an oil line kit using ss industrial grade fittings from work. thanks guys.

i posted this in the hybrid section but it only got 20 views in 24 hous so i figured i'd post it here since this forum has always been the best at getting good answers

You will have less pressure drop through the hose therefore flow more oil to the head.

im sorry. im not sure i fully understand what you mean. could you please explain a little more?......

to me what it sounds like your saying is that the bigger the hose, the less pressure you get. so it doesnt take alot of pressure to activate vtec? how much does it need in order to work or is more pressure less important than oil volume?

that makes total sense. so using 1/4 id tubing should be ok right?
