Can I use this spot on the head for your oil feed line?



I also seen a picture the other day. Someone put their Oil Pressure Guage Sender in this same location.

I how like to think that it would take a lot of oil pressure away from the vtev.....not to sure.. but i would sure say .. Dont use that spot.... .. use the spot on the back ...

I had mine there for a few thousand miles, however I moved it later when I better understood the heads oil flow. Below vtec, there is less than 7 psi at that source and although you don't need a lot of pressure in that line, I didn't want to test the theory.

I have never read a clear answer about this. I always "heard" that spot did not have enough oil pressure until vtec was engaged. On the cover of that Honda Builders book, that engine has it's turbo fed from that spot. That would make such a nice, clean spot to feed the turbo from..........so who knows the answer??

I would think this answer could be resolved by just finding someone who has a pressure sender located in that spot, and seeing how much it puts out.

Or someone could test this for them selves maybe?

No it is one of the last places to get oil... it is on the other side of the motor farthest away from the pump. do you want you turbo to be starved for a sec or two

That hole is for a guage to see how much pressure the head gets when vtec is engaged. Oil pressure is VERY low at that spot out of vtec. Try this, take the plug out and start the car. Oil will just dribble out, definintely not at 75psi! Putting your oil feed line there is about a good idea as putting dirt in the line. Don't do it!

tony, how about on the h22 and using the plug hole under the distributor? i hear on the h22 that is a reasonable spot to go with rather than the stock sending unit location

The lower one is before the vtec soleniod so it has pressure. After the soleniod only has pressure when it open. That will work fine on the lower one.
