Sport "S" light flashes and my speedometer dropped to zero. HELP.
Hello all,
I was driving today on the freeway and all of a sudden my speedometer dropped to zero and the sport "S" indicator on my dash just start flashing. The check engine light came on. The car still perform fine and transmission shifts normally. I then remove the negative on the battery and now when ever I drive, the speedometer is still zero, and the S light flashes, but NO more check engine so far is on.
One more thing I notice is that, the S inditor does not flash until I drive the for a few minutes. With the engine turned off and restarted, the light does not flash until I drive the car. Because of this, I think it's the speed sensor but which part of it is bad? Could it be the transmission circuit board is bad?
What do you guys think is the problem with this? Would the speedometer problem is due to the speed sensor that is bad? And would a speed sensor cause the S indicator to flash? By the way, my mileage meter also stop and it's not going up any more. How can I fix this problem?
Thanks.

It was not the main relay as the my problem did not reflect that. I got it fixed. It's was the speed sensor. I now just need to replace the distributor seal and this car is all good.
Thanks.
