Default B20VTEC For Autocrossing?

Could the B20VTEC setup be used for autocrossing rather than going straight, or is the engine to heavy for autocrossing? Please let me know. Thanks!
Oh, And the car is a 92 civic hatch.

Well, I'm sure you could have fun with it, but an engine swap would put you right up there with the best prepared cars out there...

...as long as you don't expect to win you'd be fine.

Welcome to street mod, the domain of high horsepower turbo cars.

Although I am positive a light powerful hybrid can take them.

low end usable torque should work wonders.

A b20 would be a blast to autocross. I think a LSD will be essential. Spring rate selection will also be critical for a nose heavy car like that. Probably something on the order of 450# front 600# rear. Plus a big rear sway bar and no front sway bar.

Interesting, Chad.

Any reason why you went with stiffer springs in the front than the rear?

that is the reason the JDM vs USDM setup arguements suck...

install them, drive hard, and see if you like it.

700 lb fronts

Spin your springs?

I'm lost.

Please clarify what you're trying to say.

sure thing it would plant you in SM but it would be so much fun to drive as well !

I just placed 17th overall out of 110 entrants, thats right, I was 3rd in SM out of 8 in that class, last weekend at a local SCCA autox.
GSR w/ LSD in a 92 CX
GC on Koni Yellow
rollbar, sparco seats, other goodies...
AND I dont even have my big brakes or swaybars on yet !
I got beat out by two DSMs... but I beat two others and a mean fox body Mustang V8 LX.

HAHAHA is the engine too heavy? NO its gotta be only 10-30 pounds heavier if at all over the other B series.. B18C/B18B/B16A, etc. You should go for it, the torque would rocket you out of corners.. plus that FAT power band would be so nice for the tougher courses. You cant go wrong with a lightweight chasis and a powerful motor.

B16 is all you need in a hatch. I will rule D Mod by the end of the season.
DMod>SMod
Although the B20 bottom end would keep me from shifting all the time.

heavier springs AND a big swaybar up front make sense. the old school setup was soft front springs with really stiff rear springs and no front bar with a big rear bar. to me this doesn't make sense with the newer shock technology. i have my stiffer springs on the front with itr sway bar's front and rear. the car has massive amounts of grip and NO push. i had to increase rear toe-in to tame the rear end. as long as you go with a stiff enough spring to balance out the stiffer sway bar and use a good enough shock to control the spring you should be all set.
