Default 97 Civic 1.5 v-tec e ENGINE SWAPS

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew which engines will fit into my 97 1.5 vtec-e without too many major alterations?

Default FV-QR

Aaaaaaaaaaandddd the blind leading the blind.

There was no 1.5 VTEC-E (D15Z1) motor in 1997. The 93-95 VX had that motor. In the USA, the 96-00 Civic HX had a 1.6 VTEC-E (D16Y5).

Yes, the Y7 will drop right in, but you'll have to have the complete wiring harness and and ECU. You cannot use (without modification) the harness or ECU from the D16Y5.

Chill, Eran. He may not live in the U.S. There was a D15Z6 VTEC-E engine in Europe, which were equipped in the '96-'00 Civic LS.

I keep forgetting we get Europeans on this board ........ I thought they all got scared off.

I must still be reeling from the guy who wanted to know if he should buy a 93 EG or a 93 EK ..

Yea its is a european model, so do you reckon the d16y7 would go in without too much hassle?

Any of the lower trim EK motors (1.4i, 1.5i, 1.6i) will drop in with no issues (as long as they have the same transmission). You'll just need the wiring harness and ECU to go along with the motor.

Why do you keep saying he needs a new wiring harness, his harness will work just fine with any engine

Yes, it will work fine, possibly/probably with some modification. If he's unfamiliar with wiring, then a full harness (which comes with most swaps anyways) would be beneficial.

Not every single motor uses the same exact sensors. He may have to add/subtract from his original harness to put in certain motors.
