Cam gear timing?
I have an 89 SI hatch(D16A6)
I was told that 14.1 timing was the ideal setting for a sohc.
From reading tech articles they mentioned 14.7 being the ideal timing.
I've also read that sohc motors can only be advanced or retarded 2 degrees.
Due to the fact that all the adjustments are made on the single cam.
Advancing timing increases Hp and retarding timing increases Torq.
One: Is this right?
Two: I don't know what the stock timing is?

ignition timing stock, 16 degrees +/- 2. advancing the ignition timing
advancing the CAM on an sohc will bring your powerband down, retarding it will bring the power band up, you need to find the happy medium between cam timing, ignition timing and fueling. too much/too little of any of them will hurt performance or your engine...
