Default Questions for Portland, OR residents

Hey P-towners; I'm deciding where my next move is going to be, and as such I have a few questions I want to ask you guys.

1) Thief situation?
2) Prevalent car scene?
3) I know you have smog; how about vehicle inspection? (Brakes/Wheel size/Modifications etc)
4) Good roads?
5) What are the people like (in general)? Stuck up? Mean? Nice? Accepting? Trashy?
6) How lenient are the cops regarding silly things like spirited driving and smoking weed?

It's been a dream of mine to live in northern west coast... Portland, OR seems like the ticket for me.

Thanks!

I moved from Wisconsin to Portland, and have been here just shy of 2 years. Here are my responses.

1) Thief situation? I haven't had anything stolen yet. I did have a car lifted in WI, though. Car theft happens everywhere
2) Prevalent car scene? Yes. We've also got Portland International Raceway, which helps. A good car culture, I think.
3) I know you have smog; how about vehicle inspection? (Brakes/Wheel size/Modifications etc) Nope. Just smog.
4) Good roads? Depends on what you consider "good." Coming from the midwest, the roads are here are great. They don't use salt in the winter (no snow), so it doesn't eat away at the roads. With that being said, I'd give the roads out here a 7.5/10 imho. Milwaukee, WI had like a 2.5/10.
5) What are the people like (in general)? Stuck up? Mean? Nice? Accepting? Trashy? Portland has the friendliest people I've ever encountered in the U.S. overall. I've been all around the U.S., and Portland is a stand out to me.
6) How lenient are the cops regarding silly things like spirited driving and smoking weed? Dunno. I don't smoke and I've never gotten a ticket.

Portland car theft is always high even if you drive a chevy aveo it will still get broken into. Get full coverage insurance and even pay extra to insure your JDM road flare so it gets replaced when your car gets stolen/broken into.

Club 205 on tuesday's is the spot...The service is awesome and the strippers do work!!!

The car scene in portland is strong. From the rice burning F&F cars to the gitter done v8's we have them all!

Weed? I don't do drugs because drugs are bad.
Cops? If you drive a lowered civic you're fuct.

Overall, if you like being in a city that rains 10 months out of the year, you'll be fine.

Oregon>Seattle.........We still have a NBA team......FTMFW>>>>>>> >>>>>GO BLAZERS!!!

1) What kind of car do you drive? When I used to own a civic/integra, super late at night, you will be targeted. Prelude and my TL, Ive had no problems, even without a front plate.

2) Car scene is ok, Its getting a lot larger, but there are a good variety of mixed cars and decent shops.

3) All you need to do is pass emissions. Brakes and such they dont inspect.

4) Oregon has one of the best roads around, we pay a lot of taxes and it shows. I think oregonians overlook how nice we have it until they visit any major city.

5) Honestly, I'm not a fan of honda owners. When I have my 240s, I would get a lot of thumbs up and such but with honda owners, all they want to do is smoke you.

6) This subject also comes down to what you have. If you have a targeted car then you better just chill. In terms of the grass, regardless if where you live, do you expect to get away with smoking in public? noooooo, but if I did that stuff, which I dont, oregon has the best ish

1) I just moved here from Oklahoma, where I coul've left my keys in the car and been okay, but I park in the garage and set the alarm. Theft happens everywhere just have to take necessary precautions.

2) with my car not being complete, and in bellingham right now, I havent been able to go to the track, but I see hella nice cars all the time. and I'm sure if I flagged someone down they'd be more than happy to chat.

3) I'm keepign my car registered in OKlahoma to get around this. my companies corporate office is there and I just use that as my mailing address.

4) Roads as far as quality, or fun to drive. I drive down germantown to get to work every morning.

5) People here are awesome, friendly, every once-in-a-while I will run into the ocassional douche bag on the road but. maybe once a month.

6) Don't smoke weed, but I got a seatbelt violation today, just as i pulled out of my driveway, cop was hella cool, and said if it was any other day he would of just kept going but they are working overtime this mem. day weekend and are trying to make a seatbelt quota. so oh well on me for not having it on.

Portland is like the melting pot of people, cultures, the car scene and everything else. Overall its a damn good place to live, just wish it was warm enought year round to warrant a theme park of some sort!

Portland is full of hippies and Prius driving envirowhiners. Oregon also hangs around the top in the number of clandestine meth labs so I hear.

seems like lots of people touched based on everything.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Taiden &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Hey P-towners; I'm deciding where my next move is going to be, and as such I have a few questions I want to ask you guys. </TD></TR></TABLE>

1) I've had 3 Integra's all of which have been picked, then you talk to the next guy who's had one for 16 years and never even got a radio stolen. so it varies. i drive a truck now lol
2) car scene is pretty cool in portland, stop by the oregon thread and everyone knows each other, no dicks well not too many if at all, and alot of the guys we hang out outside of online. Lots of boost happy people here in the NW, fast, ballin showcars, and of course the number of F&F ricers that make us look that much better
3) just smog, DEQ but can be avioded if you're outside teh portland metro area.
4) Roads aren't bad at all, they got real bad last year due to a bunch of construction, but long term they'll be very nice.
5) If you're downtown everyone's pretty nice, people here are just more relaxed, its a very cutured city, and growing more diverse. when you get far out in the country of oregon though, then its redneck cityy haha
6) Cops are cops, they can be dicks, but if you get caught with weed, its a slap on the wrist haha. depending on how much of a dick you are and what they pulled you over for, it varies.

I was born and raised here and can't see myself moving too far from portland.

and 205 is the **** yo!
