Default Hard to start in hot weather

My wife has a 1991 CRX HF. Whenever it gets hot outside, and her car is sitting in the parking lot all day at work, it won't start when she's ready to go home. It turns over fine, just won't start. If she raises the hood for about 10 minutes, it will usually start then.

A guy I work with says it is probably the ignition module, that he's seen it before.

Before I lay out $100.00 for a new one, I was hoping to get some other opinions.

Anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Philip

turn the ignition on and listen for the fuel pump to prime.. if it does...i would say to pop off your dist. cap and check rotor, cap, and contact points... its possible its an ignition module

i was reading about the main relay and thats what happens when the main relay goes bad, its the solder joints in the main relay and when it gets hot i believe the joints become for restrictive, you can take it out and find the weak solder joints and resolder them but research how to do that.

I had the same problem with my CRX. The terminals on the igniter corroded and would not give a good contact. I cleaned them up and has worked fine ever since. Might try that.

Sounds like main relay. In my 89 DX hatch, sometimes if I open the door to let the interior cool out a bit, I can get it to fire up. You can google for pics and how-to.
