I just had my P28 chip for my Y8 motor that is in my 93 CX hatch... well when I picked it up the tuner said to run the car to running temp then pin on the service connector which will give me a check engine light and set the engine at 12 degrees? What does he mean by this? Also the question is how to move it 12 degrees?

Ignition timing advance. Buy a Haynes manual.

What kind of "tuner" installs a calibration and then doesn't set the base timing so he can test it? Good luck with it.

jumping the service connector, puts the computer ina mdoe to se timing, when the engine is hot set the timing at 12 btdc with a timing light, if you dont know how to do this, dont do it, find someone who does.

 

Find a better tuner. The hack you took it to is a moron for giving you a half *** install/tune. Hell, not even HALF ***. That's way too much credit.
