Default timing for boost quest

I have a 91 si with a y8, obd1. Now I dont have a problem timing my hondas in the past but this one confuses me. I bought a basemap for temp to get to tuner but the place I bought the chip from told me to run 12 deg timing. I borrowed a snap-on adj deg light. So normally they run at 17 deg which is the middle red hash mark on crank but when I set it to 12 deg I can only set it to the white tdc line which is fine but when I set it to 17 deg it only can be adj to the tdc mark also. So if I set the gun to zero deg will it show me the red hash? Then I set gun to 5deg? Motor warm and jumpered the service check connecter reved up to a couple grand. motor is all orig no milling and cam timing dead on

Default Re: timing for boost quest

The reason y I said set to 5 deg on the timing light is if I set the gun to 0 deg and that is act 17deg then will setting it to 5 deg mean 12 deg timing.
