Default tap/clatter? valves/lma's? PLEASE HELP.

b16a:
when i start the car for the first time of the day, or after sitting for a significant amount of time - there is a distinct clatter for a few seconds every time. it seems to go away after oil circulates, or whatever reason. even then there is still a clatter or tapping. sometimes it seems like it gets louder and more constant after the car warms up.

i've done the valves twice. the car was cold, tdc, right order, right gauge. is there anything else that would mimic a valve tap noise?

if it's the lost motion assembly, would the noise accelerate with the rpms? i can hear it any time i pass a curb line or other cars sometimes. thanks.

lma's are always noisey, wouldnt worry about that. but the clatter on start up could be a rod bearing. worry about that.

old honda = noisy valve train

i wouldn't worry about it unless it does it after the oil is pumpin'

always noisy? -- if they've gone bad right? otherwise i thought they were to keep the vtec rocker in place from rattling around while it's not in use.

also, i thought injectors would only be noticable or mimic taps like that if they're something decent aftermarket...

Your stock injectors are still audible.
