Default 96 EK wiring and vtech problems

i have a 96 ek w/ ls/vtec swap, b16 head, bought the car the way it is.... its on a stock obd1 p72 gsr ecu that needs chipped and tuned badly, havent got it done yet becuase its been running good, not to rich or lean...

problems are

while at high rpms (should be vtec) it goes in and out, kinda like sputters, but drives fine before vtec kicks in, any ideas??

i want to redo all the wiring harness any ways cuz it looks all hacked up, what would be the best harness to get. its obd2b to obd1 right now?

Have you checked all the basics yet?
Plugs,cap, and rotor ok?

If you were to get a whole new engine harness, Id think a 96-98 EX harness would be the easiest to work with...Vtec wires already ran, minor re-wiring involved...
