recently my car started having trouble going into gears and yesterday it got worse. i can only go from the position of third gear to neutral to fourth gear i cannot move over to where fifth and reverse or first and second are. the weird part is when i let out the clutch the car is stuck in the reverrse gear regardless of the shifters positon. this car is my daily so i gotta get this fixed asap.

any ideas as to what the problem could be?
all help is greatly appreciated!!

I'm almost certain you have damaged something in your shift linkage. You probably just lost a bolt on the freeway. You might be slamming on your shifter too hard...

Jack the car up and inspect your shift linkage. This is probably something you can fix for less than $5. Let us know how it goes!

 

thanks i really apprectiate it. i jacked up the car and couldnt really see anything. the linkage appeared to be in good order. i'll figure it out haha i was overdue for a clutch anyways

There's a chance your clutch disk/pressure plate is failing on you.
