Default Don't have time to resurface flywheel. What can I do?

I took off my tranny to check out the clutch and it looked like this:

So I figured I'd get a new disc. I found a disc (no pressure plate) with 12k miles on it at cost of shipping. I'm doing the install this weekend and no place will be open to resurface the flywheel. I've heard of people scruffing the flywheel will 120 grit sand paper or emery cloth. What should I do?

I'm planning on buying a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, bearing in a month or two. I just need this to last in the meantime.

clean the surface with something like brake clean to remove any oils.

Abrade the surface, clean again and you should be fine for the short time.

What do you suggest to scruff the surface? Do the same to the pressure plate?

i use a D/A sander, start out with 80 grit, then go to 180, makes a nice surface, unless its beat up from a puck clutch, but if it was a street full face disc, should be fine. If you don't have a D/A, i also use an angle grinder with 3M Roloc discs, the brown ones, available at any parts stores. Use the same for cleaning gasket surfaces in engines

dude stock cluthes are so cheap, the exedy oem deikon or is it Diekon Sp? clutch was like 60-75 i dont remember. IMO your doing this a half asssed job. If your going to take the tranny off just do it the right way and have the peace of mind that you wont have to do the clutch for awaile.

I'm not worried about the clutch disc going bad because it's used. I'm worried because I don't want the flywheel eating away at the disc if it's not resurfaced. The new Exedy would also go if the flywheel surface is scratched/heat spotted.

I'd love to do it the right way but I can't right now. I know I'll have to do it again in a month or so but in my 4 month summer vacation, I think I'll find the time.

I would measure the step height to ensure it's close to spec before deciding. It should be .111" +/- .001".

If it's still in spec, then prep the finish with the surface prep discs.
