Default Heating problem with boosted LS vtec need help

Hi HT

I just got my boosted LS vtec running and its having a heating problem. It doesnt overheat right away but after some time it would heat up. It would heat up when I come to a stop after driving around even without boosting. I have to stop and let the car cool down.

I have new Mishimoto half radiator with slim fan in a EG. I am thinking the radiator is not able to cool the motor. Also I put in a new thermostat when the motor was assembled.

What do you guys think is the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Paul

I am having a similar problem with my B16T, what plugs are you running, if you didn't buy a cooler plug that could be the problem.

spark plug heat range has pretty much nothing to do with coolant temp.

OP, more detials please. is the thermostat opening? does the fan work properly? did you bleed the system?

spark plugs are BKR7E and Im pretty sure the thermostat opens because i can drive around for some time before it heats up. I wired the fan to the ignition so it will be on all the time and the fan is blowing the right direction.

After driving for like say 20 min under boost, the temperature would go up when I stop at light.

I am thinking of getting a Koyo radiator or go with bigger fan or change both.

Anymore ideas?

Is there a way to bleed the system? How?

if temp is going up only when at lights i would look into the fan. the rad isnt getting enough airflow when stopped.
