Default bearing problem??

hey guys i need your opinion i have a d16y8 all stock. i found out a few months ago that i need a new input and pilot bearing but im in school and didnt have the time to do it myself or the money to have it taken care of. anyways i was driving around the other day and when i put the car in gear there was a rattling sound it came and went but seemed to kick in around 3k or when i pushed the car. like i said it comes and goes but it seems to be happening more often. could this be the bearing(s) or something worse?

thanks for any input or advise.

There's no way to really know how long you can drive it like that, even if you're easy on it.

I shouldn't say this but....*gives glimmer of hope*.....a friend of mine drove for +/- 6 months with a bad throw out bearing. He beat the hell out of it all the time, and never had catastrophic failure.

But a bad pilot bearing is a different matter - get it fixed as soon as you can, and/or stop driving it 'til you can.
