Default Higher idle after replacing distributor.

I just replaced my distributor and I notice my car is idling higher then usual (900 rpm) compared to (700 ish) before.

Does the mounting position of the dizzy affect idle? If it does, which way do I need to adjust it to get the idle to go lower?

Thanks

Set the ignition timing to factory spec. If the idle is still high, then you have a separate problem. First try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body.

Its like pushing water through a dirty clogged pipe versus a nice clean pipe. Your new distributor is the nice new pipe so the car is reacting way better to this new part. Adjust the ignition timing, set the idle and you should be set.

your timing is causing you to idle high.
