residue in radiator
so my h23a just overheated and when i was checking it out i noticed that there was a tan colored residue inside my radiator and reserve tank. wtf is it?
so now that its overheated, the thermometer jumps to hot in about 5 minutes. my cousin said that the thermostat failed and said i could have potentially cracked or warped the head. any idea how much this **** will cost to repair?

well, i just got it out of the shop like a month or two ago cuz my brother crashed it and i guess they replaced all the items that needed to be replaced. from the looks of the radiator, it looks new. but looks cheapy. i was thinking of putting a koyo radiator or another performance radiator instead.
im fairly new to trying to fix cars so any little bit of information really helps.

I'd also check your oil just to be safe and rule out the possibility of a blown head gasket or cracked head. I personally know two people than ran their H23s hot and cracked the head.

Well first off, fix what caused the problem. Then change the oil and run it for a few miles to flush out any coolant that may have mixed with the oil. I would go buy a good radiator flush and run that while your flushing the oil.

That all depends on how hot it got, among other things...did the shop change the head gasket or what?
