Default B16 turbo problem white smoke

My friend just turbo'd his b16 eg and theres some white smoke when idling. When he tried to go into boost a lot of white smoke comes out of the exhaust. He took the car to the tuner for a tune and the turner said he couldn't tune the car because it was blowing to much white smoke, and he said it smells like oil so he pulled my car off the dyno. He said the problem could be my turbo seal, but he isn't sure. Now the question is what else could be wrong, head gasket, pistons, etc. Do you think his engine is gone?

His setup is:
Stock B16
t3/t4 turbo
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Aem ems
Dsm 450cc injectors
B&M fuel pressure regulator
Thats all I could think off for now, I might be missing some small parts.

TIA

does it smoke only when in boost? if it does and its white and smells like oil it could be that the seals in the turbo are shot and its blowing out hitting the exhaust or engine and its burning. Thats what happened to me when my seals in my turbo crap, everytime i hit boost white oil smelling smoke would be covering the cars behind me

There is white smoke during idle too. Just not as much as when its in boost.

Did he run the engine without a tune? Did the AEM ems have a basemap?

Once the turbo was installed, it had white smoke on idle already. But he did hit on it a few times untuned. Yes, it is also on an AEM basemap.
