Default smoking vents......

yea so when i am in boost and only when i am in boost smoke starts coming out of my drivers side vent whether i have it opened or closed(its a crx). Not much, looks almost white, like cigarette smoke not too thick though..... It doesn't smell like antifreeze but just wondering about suggestions about what it could be??

Does it smell like anything? Do you still have A/C?

Wow.

Usually white smoke coming out of the vents is a BAD sign.

I know this, because when I had white smoke coming through the vents, my oil feed line had come undone and was dumping hot oil all over my engine bay.

That night sucked

The smoke could be blowby smoke coming out of your dipstick tube. I had the same problem on my car when the dipstick was toast. The gases would push my dipstick out and spray oil on my manifold causing it to smoke.

I had the same thing happen once, turned out to be smoke pouring out of the valve cover breather due to a broken ring land. Run the car with the hood open and look for smoke, hell check the compression why you are at it.

i'm betting you have your brether on your valve cover either vented to the air or have a filter over it.

am i right?

if thats so its blowby and is normal. Well its not normal but you'll need a good catch can with oil drainback and a source of vaccum to fix it since the stock honda pcv system sucks

yea that **** is wide open, not even a breather on it..... yea, but upon further inspection i actually decied to get under my car and look around. The back of my block is covered in oil, is this from blowby? and i realized its hittin my downpipe which is probably why its smoking at wot basically. But do u think all of that oil on the back of my block is from that lil open valve? the black box on the back of my block(whatever that is) is covered in oil too, so the leak starts up high..... any past experiences with anyone?

Try getting an STR or Venom dipstick. They're discontinued for B-Series motors but some places still have some in stock.

Have someone rev the car while you watch the breather. If you start seeing smoke or an abnormally high amount of oil squirting out then that's your problem. You could try running a catch can to catch the oil but that's a band-aid fix.

i'm a big boy i think i can manage to rev the engine by the throttle body/throttle cable hehe , anyways, so theres no fix, just let it be? my one friend has a catch can and its a piece, fills up with oil in no time, and it just sucks, he's got a Z10 catch can

Or you could do it yourself by pulling the throttle cable or throttle arm while still in the engine bay.

if its oil dripping on the dp it'll smoke all the time and a lot
if its smoke @ wot it's blowby and nothing to be afraid of unless it becomes excessive or blows a lot of oil all over the place (even most healthy cars will blow oil)

i never once did a compression check on my car, so what would the readings be like if my ringlands were toast?

if you're having a puff of smoke here and there its most likely not your ringlands unless its a fair amount of smoke.

test it anyway; if they're low then somethings not right
